Going forward:

Career planning is a lifelong affair, it goes on until one retires. Whether one becomes a musician, sports person, physician or a scientist, one should identify their passion and interest early and work towards it. Unless one is a prodigy there is no substitute to planning and hard work in achieving the goal. Well begun is half done.

The achievements in high school, undergraduate and graduate programs could be vital in achieving what you set out to do. Right foundation, background research into options and alternate pathways available and having right credentials for entry into your desired programs at every level is the formula for success.

It is equally important in life for one to be equipped with skills to cope with hurdles and failures one may face. One should be able to identify an alternate equally attractive goal, rather than breakdown, if success eludes.

Points on Residency application

Different programs have different acceptable time gaps between graduation and application. You will need to check individual programs you wish to apply to. Pathway6, Mini-CEX is probably a way to work around this issue.You should plan your exam schedule accordingly. Programs look for Step 1 at the application stage, Step 2 scores at the time of applications/ interviews (for short listing for interview). Step 3 is not mandatory for the application however if you have Step 3 you can ask for H1 visa instead of J1 visa.
